Escape the noise and chaos of West Street and downtown Yangshou! Beautiful Hutong's location is ideal – stunning, tranquil, yet a mere 10 minute bicycle ride (3km) from the city center of Yangshuo. It sits on the western edge of ‘Mushanzha’, a traditional riverside village dotted with yellow brick farmhouses and winding alleyways. The imposing karst features of Dragon Gate Mountain rise to the north side of our Feng Shui inspired courtyard – the heart of Beautiful Hutong – providing a stunning natural backdrop to all the goings on here. Our first floor has spectacular views of the mountains lining the Li River. At Beautiful Hutong our primary focus is not profit. As a family owned and managed guesthouse, our goal is to offer a sense of the community that existed in the traditional courtyard neighbourhoods – ‘Hutongs’ – that throughout history have played a central role in Chinese society. Travellers from all different cultures and backgrounds are invited to join us in these peaceful and very special surroundings. *Rooms* Our delightful rooms are designed using natural materials, and all feature en suite bathroom, air conditioning, bed linen, towel, kettle/cups, and television. Pictures all represent views from the guesthouse. *During your stay* Take a five minute stroll from Beautiful Hutong to a spectacular stretch of the Li River. Rent our family's bikes for free (depending on availability) or get great deals for day rentals (top condition modern bikes) at our partnering bike rental in Yangshuo Learn about tea culture (and drink tea!) with Simon, Beautiful Hutong’s friendly owner. Try one of our tours. One familiar and less delightful aspect of modern China is the tendency to copy whoever or whatever is successful. Unfortunately, this has bred a depressing uniformity in the tours on offer around Yangshuo. We have used our local knowledge to design unique tours that enable our guests to take in some breathtaking scenery, experience real Chinese life, and avoid the crowds. Understand how society in the Hutong functioned, the principles of Feng Shui, and the all-important concept of ‘face’. Learn a little Mandarin (survival Chinese!) Enjoy a calligraphy lesson or a traditional Chinese massage. Volunteer for an afternoon in a school in one of the minority villages. Choose from a range of traditional Chinese home cooked dishes with vegetables from our garden (and eggs from our hens!). Enjoy the famous ‘Liu Sanjie’ river show for free and learn many other local secrets. Get assistance with bus tickets, train tickets, and visas. And much more!
